The Open Infrastructure Foundation builds open source communities that write software to run in production.

Meet the global community you can join today.

We believe digital infrastructure is core to human progress in every country, company and industry. We’ve created a community driven open source approach which is the best way to openly develop technology that is broadly available for use around the world.

Open Source Communities the OIF Supports

Staying true to our mission of helping people build and operate open infrastructure, OIF supports open source projects contributing to the advancement of today’s infrastructure. From cloud hosting to the driving force behind 5G, these projects are code first and operate under the guiding principles we call the “Four Opens”.

The OIF also nurtures cross-community collaboration with other open source communities like Ansible, Ceph, Gerrit, Kubernetes, Magma, Open vSwitch, rust-vmm and more.

Open Source Works Better When We Do It Together

This is where we need you. Individuals are the lifeblood of the community, and can serve and vote on the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Companies provide vital support for the Foundation as we invest in building the next decade of open infrastructure. Join us!

Platinum Membership

The Open Infrastructure Foundation has Platinum Members as specified in the bylaws, who play a critical role in providing support that makes the community’s work possible. Organizations are highlighted as the community members who are collaborating with the global Open Infrastructure community to advance open source.

Four new organizations joined the OIF in October, 2020 and other organizations can still apply to become a founding Platinum Member*. Contact us if you are interested in becoming a Platinum Member. Review the criteria published by the OIF Board of Directors as a guide, as well as the bylaws and other legal documents for more details. The Platinum Members each contribute $350k USD per year to the Foundation to support the global community and must also have the equivalent of 2 full time employees contributing to OIF projects.

* All Platinum Members are subject to board approval.

At the start of their term, new Gold Members will immediately be represented by the Gold Directors already in office, who make up 1/3 of the board and represent the entire Gold class (not the companies who employ them).
